AIM UP: Transform Doubt into Self Discovery

Doubt is a natural part of the human experience. Like any other feeling experienced through our bodies, it’s a signal that something within us requires attention. The feeling of doubt arises when we encounter uncertainty. It’s a signal that arises when we don’t fully understand something or when we’re not sure we can meet what’s expected of us in a situation.

I’ve found that for many people doubt feels like a road block, a challenge to conquer and for some maybe one day if you do enough power poses and positive affirmations to whale music it’ll go away…however, it’s not an obstacle to overcome.

There’s a deeper gift to be unlocked. When we tap into doubt through acceptance, it is a powerful catalyst for discovery and growth.. Let me tell you more…

To get started we first need to understand the benefits of doubt.. (and gasp, to ones of you in shock at even a statement of positivity.. yes, there are benefits!) Here we go…

  • Doubt gets you thinking - doubt encourages you to question assumptions, seeking evidence, dig deeper, leading you to more informed and conscious decisions.

  • Doubt promotes your growth and learning - challenging what you know and motivating you to learn and expand your knowledge and understanding.

  • Doubt prevents overconfidence - healthy doubt is wonderful humbler and can often save you from making a careless mistake, encourages caution and looking like that d*ck.

  • Doubt encourages creativity and innovation - often seen a sign of intelligence, pushing you to seek new ideas and challenging the status quo.

  • Doubt kept humanity alive - our ancestors faced uncertainty on a regular basis, it pushed their abilities to question friend or foe, develop problem solving skills and figure so many things out. So big gratitude all round.

Now if you’re reading this, you’re probably more familiar with the flip side, the negative aspects of doubt like:

  • Inaction

  • Indecision

  • Procrastination

  • Self sabotage

  • Lack of confidence

  • Lack of progress

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Paralysis

  • Negative self-talk

And I hear you, they really aren’t ideal. I’ve experienced them all and it really can be sh*t. Bluh.

Yet things changed when I started to understand the purpose of doubt. Accepting doubt not just as a mental state of bluh, but a crucial part of our evolutionary consciousness. A guide for growth and transformation.

So when the feeling of doubt is pulling you down.. I want you to remember to AIM UP!

1 / Awareness - Recognise what’s happening, what are your feelings and the situation?

2 / Investigate - Explore and dig deeper, what message is the signal trying to tell you?

3 / Message - Connect the insights, how does the message relate to your current situation?

4 / Understanding - Allow yourself to accept the message, how can you embrace the insights?

5 / Perspective - Reflecting on the insights, what do you discover about yourself?

Working with our doubt can lead us to a wealth of discoveries. It invites us to tap into our inner knowing, rather than resign to shadows and stuckness of negativity.

By embracing doubt, we can use it as a tool for understanding and self-transformation. Doubt challenges us to go further, to uncover what we need to accept, and move forward with that confidence and clarity we've been longing for.

And if there’s one thing that you take away from this…

Next time the doubt arises AIM UP! You have everything you need within to make the best out of it.

Now go be your brilliant self in the world.

Big love,

Emma
