Actively Trusting the Process
Trusting the Process: What It Really Means
“Trust the process” gets thrown around a lot, but what does it actually mean? It’s not about passively surrendering to whatever happens, but rather an invitation to lean in and engage with the journey. Trusting the process isn’t about giving up control—it’s about staying open, curious, and ready to ask, “What’s the next step?”
This approach calls for sitting with the uncertainty, letting the next phase reveal itself. It’s important to ask yourself: How do I want guidance to come through? Do you want clarity to arrive as a feeling, a knowing, or through inspired action? Get clear on how you want to receive insight. The process of trusting requires intention—understanding how you want to be guided shapes your journey forward.
Trust and Support
A huge part of trusting the process is trusting the support you receive along the way. If past experiences of betrayal, gaslighting, or being let down have left you hesitant to trust others, this can spill over into your ability to trust the process itself. Trusting others and allowing support to flow to you becomes difficult when trust has been broken. It’s crucial to be aware of the energy we allow into our lives because, as the word “influence” implies (from the Latin influere, meaning “to flow into”), the people around us influence our inner state.
We’re deeply impacted by the energy of those who support us—or don’t. Their influence, their flow into our experience, affects how we see the world and move through it. That’s why the people we surround ourselves with matter; they shape our energy and mindset. It’s often said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with” (Jim Rohn) this is because their energy is part of our experiences. Our experiences influence us, they shape us, especially in our formative years.
Energy Flow and Conscious Choice
When we ask, Whose energy is flowing into me? we start to get conscious of who we’re allowing to influence our lives. What frequency are they emitting? Does their energy empower us or hold us back? This awareness leads to practical trust—trusting people and energies that genuinely uplift us, that align with the outcomes we want to create.
Trusting the process isn’t passive; it’s deeply active. It’s about assessing the quality of what we allow into our space, being intentional with whose energy we invite in, and creating a flow of trust within ourselves. When we trust this energy and surround ourselves with the right support, we allow the process to unfold in a way that serves us.
Ultimately, trusting the process means aligning with the energies that help us grow, ensuring that what flows into our lives matches the version of ourselves we want to create. And when we do that, we can relax into the process, knowing it’s leading us in the right direction.
